The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State has deployed 1,000 personnel throughout the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order during Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
The deployment was based on multiple intelligence sources available to the agency, as well as records of black spots in various communities throughout the Gateway State, according to a statement by the corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf.
So-Safe Corps is determined to launch an aggressive crackdown on criminally inclined individuals, including cultists terrorizing Ogun communities with guns, especially those working to acquire more rifles for use during the 2023 electioneering season, according to the statement.
Soji Ganzallo, the So-Safe Commander, assured the residents of Ogun that all weapons and ammunition in circulation would be removed beginning on December 18, 2022, and continuing through January 10, 2023.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ogun was also urged by Ganzallo to “take their time on various pulpits to instruct their followers to celebrate moderately and to ensure they follow all security and safety guidelines for safer and secure communities during the season.”
The corps commander reported that all of the agency’s zonal and area commands had received orders to deploy their officers to strategic locations, emphasizing that their intelligence operatives should be distributed appropriately to negate all forms of criminal activity before, during, and after the Yuletide.
When entering and exiting the state, Ganzallo urged motorists and motorbike riders to slow down and use caution.
Additionally, he requested that all complaints, distress calls, and suspicious activity be directed to 08034681687, 09069392064, and 08035479930.
