Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has lamented over Nigeria’s economic circumstances after buying a tuber of yam for N10K.
She revealed that she had just bought necessities at an Ogba market with all of her N150,000.
On her Instagram page, Nkechi asked whether others had given up on the current state of affairs and questioned the sustainability of the current economic conditions.
She listed the things she had bought, highlighting the high cost of living.
Nkechi acknowledged that she was not wealthy and that she was feeling the heat in the nation, but she felt driven to share her concerns nonetheless.
She went on to say that she might want to consider opportunities abroad because people from various economic backgrounds are facing challenges.
She penned:
“So I carried N150k to the market to buy basic things – Turkey 2 kilos, catfish, life chicken, and goat meat. Guess what? N1000 didn’t return home with me. One yam na N10000 now. I noticed that people aren’t talking about the economy anymore; it’s like you guys enjoy it. I am not rich, so I will complain. Besides, even the rich are complaining. I am not the rich but one of the masses, and I am complaining like this.
It’s time to dust my passport because it is no longer getting funny.”
