Niger’s government plans to build a new parish in honor of murdered Catholic priest Fr Isaac Achi in Kaffin-Koro

The Niger State Government has announced plans to construct a new parish in Kafin-Koro in memory of late Rev. Father Isaac Achi, Priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-Koro.

Remember that on Sunday, bandits burned to death a Catholic priest in his home in Kafin-Koro.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, stated this when he led a high-powered government delegation to the St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral to express condolences to Most Rev. Martin Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of Minna. Rev. Father Achi’s departure is described as painful, but he is consoled that his legacy of selfless service to humanity will live on.

The SSG stated that the Priest was an exceptional Clergy member who preached salvation and had a positive impact on his followers wherever he served.

He went on to say, “the government will collaborate with the Catholic Diocese of Minna and other organizations in finding a lasting solution to insecurity which has become a major threat to lives and property of the citizenry in the state.”

The SSG then prayed to God to have mercy on the deceased’s soul and to grant his immediate family, members of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, and the Christian community in the state the strength to bear the loss.

Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Minna, Most Rev. Martin Uzoukwu, described Rev. Achi as a gentle and peace-loving Priest in his remarks.

Matane was accompanied on his visit to the state by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yusuf Suleman Liman, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Emmanuel Musa, the Commissioner for Internal Security, Emmanuel Umar, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Akilu Musa, the Director General, Religious Affairs, Sheik Abubakar Mohammed Rabiu Beji, and the Chairman of the Paikoro Local Government Area.
