A Nigerian lady has stirred widespread reactions online after advising women to ensure their partners “fear” them in relationships and marriage.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the woman urged ladies to make sure the man they intend to marry is already scared of them before even starting a relationship. According to her, being soft, calm, or operating in what she described as “feminine energy” gives men the opportunity to take advantage of women.
She claimed that when a man believes he is dating a “mad person” or a “dragon,” he would think twice before misbehaving. In her words, such fear would keep men in check and prevent them from disrespecting their partners.
“In a relationship or marriage, if you want to marry, you need to marry a husband that fears you. Before you even start a relationship, make sure the guy is scared of you. So that before he does anything, he will remember that he is dating a mad person. If I come back, she will scatter the house,” she said.
The lady further argued that women should not only be feared by their husbands or boyfriends but also by their children, insisting that fear is what brings respect and control in the home. She repeatedly referred to women as “dragons” who must be feared to avoid being treated badly.
Her remarks have since gone viral, sparking intense debate across social media platforms. While some users found her statements amusing, many others strongly criticised her mindset, warning that promoting fear in relationships could encourage toxic behaviour and ultimately destroy marriages.
