A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom is reportedly preparing to return home after her visa was cancelled, following an exhausting and ultimately unsuccessful job search.
The young content creator, who has been documenting her japa journey online, revealed that she applied to approximately 3,000 jobs during her stay in the UK. Despite her relentless effort, she secured only 24 interviews — none of which led to employment or visa sponsorship.
Exhaustive Job Hunt Yields No Results
In an emotional phone call to her parents, she disclosed the urgency of her situation.
“My visa has been cancelled. I have a few weeks left in the UK. If I don’t find a job that will give me visa sponsorship, that’s it,” she said.
Her statement reflects the harsh realities many international students face abroad, particularly amid tightening immigration policies and intense competition in the UK job market.
Father’s Heartfelt Response
However, in the midst of the uncertainty, her father’s response stood out as a powerful moment of reassurance.
“I can never reject my own. If they cancel it, come back to me. We are here,” he calmly told her.
His comforting words have resonated with many online, highlighting the irreplaceable value of family support during difficult times.
A Journey Beyond Setbacks
Although returning home now appears likely, her experience underscores the resilience required when pursuing opportunities abroad. While the outcome may not have been what she hoped for, the exposure, lessons, and personal growth gained during her time in the UK could serve as a stepping stone for future success.
Her story is a reminder that setbacks do not define one’s journey — and sometimes, the greatest safety net is simply knowing there is a home to return to.
