Nigerian singer Chike has accused a social media user, Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, of allegedly defrauding him in a business deal that reportedly went wrong.
The music star made the allegation in a series of posts shared on X on Monday, where he detailed how the transaction unfolded.
According to Chike, he paid Ochibili about $20,000 for a business venture she presented to him. However, he later discovered that the proposed business allegedly never existed.
Expressing his frustration online, the singer said he was shocked to realise he might have been deceived.
“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief? That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money.
$50,000 in the air. $20,000 of my hard earned money I didn’t see either. How do I find out this late that I’m just another person she has duped. Even me I de laugh myself,” he wrote.
Chike also cautioned his followers to be careful and avoid entering into any business arrangement with the woman.
When some followers asked for details about the nature of the deal, the singer insisted that the specific business idea was not the issue. According to him, the major concern is that the venture allegedly did not exist at all.
“Whatever business Chioma sells to you is not the issue. The big issue here is that the business does not even exist, which then equates to fraud,” he added.
The singer further revealed that he has begun taking steps to recover the money he claims to have lost, noting that what was initially presented as a legitimate opportunity turned out to be questionable after his discovery.
