Nigerian Man Seeks Help After Mistakenly Buying N90,000 Worth of Data

A young Nigerian man recently turned to social media in a bid to recover from a costly digital mishap. The man, identified on X as @sadeeq_malo, revealed that he had intended to purchase mobile data worth N9,000 for his MTN line—but a slip of the finger led him to spend N90,000 instead.

The mistake resulted in him receiving a staggering 480 GB of mobile data, far more than he could ever hope to use. Overwhelmed by the sheer volume of data and the huge financial loss, he took to X to seek advice and assistance.

In his post, he pleaded with his followers and MTN Nigeria for help:

“I mistakenly bought 90k Data on My MTN Sim instead of 9k. Please, can someone help me how to convert this Data to Airtime or Money. Dear MTNNG, please do something. Please help me retweet this; your single retweet might help me, thank you.”

The post quickly gained traction online, drawing reactions from Nigerians eager to offer solutions. Some suggested ways to convert the excess data into airtime or share it with friends and family, while others encouraged retweeting the message to get the attention of MTN officials.

As the story circulates, many are weighing in on the challenges of managing large data bundles and the importance of double-checking digital transactions—especially when mistakes can cost tens of thousands of naira.
