A Nigerian man has taken to social media to plead with his wife to return home after a misunderstanding between them led to her leaving—while the children stayed behind with him.
In a video that has gone viral on TikTok, the man explained that the situation started from what he described as a minor disagreement. During the argument, he told his wife he was no longer interested in the marriage and asked her to leave, not expecting her to go without the children.
Just three days into caring for the two kids alone, the man admitted he was completely overwhelmed.
“Abeeg, make una help me beg my wife. We get small misunderstanding and I tell her say I no dey interested in the marriage again. Na so she leave the two children for me. I no know say to take care of children no dey easy oo,” he said.
He went on to describe his new routine, which now starts as early as 5 a.m. with preparing meals and getting the children ready for school, and continues through the afternoon when he has to pick them up again.
“Around 5 a.m. I go wake up to prepare food for them. Around 3 p.m. I go pick them from school. She don leave for just three days and na die I dey oo. Women dey try oo. E no easy at all,” he added.
The emotional video ended with a heartfelt apology, as the man asked his wife to forgive him and return home, admitting that he now better understands how demanding childcare can be.
The video has since sparked widespread reactions online. While many social media users urged men to appreciate their wives and the unseen labour they put in, others advised couples to resolve their marital issues privately and avoid involving the children.
