A Nigerian man has shared what he described as one of the most painful experiences of his life after sacrificing everything to support his former girlfriend’s relocation to the United Kingdom.
The man, identified as @sidney_sbm, took to social media platform X to recount how he sold his car and emptied his savings to fund his girlfriend’s travel and initial settlement abroad, hoping it would strengthen their future together.
According to him, his efforts and sacrifices were met with appreciation at the time. In messages he shared, the lady thanked him for the support but also expressed concern, telling him she felt bad about making him spend so much and warning that he might later regret it.
Sadly, that warning became a reality.
Just two months after arriving in the UK, the lady reportedly told him that she had changed and was no longer sure she felt the same way about him. The relationship ended shortly after, leaving the man heartbroken and financially drained.
Screenshots shared by @sidney_sbm showed the contrast between their conversations before her relocation—filled with gratitude and emotional connection—and the blunt messages sent months later, which signaled the end of their relationship.
His story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users debating sacrifice in relationships, financial boundaries, and the risks of investing heavily without legal or marital commitment.
