Nigerian Lady Returns Engagement Ring After Fiancé’s Facebook Comment Defending Cheating

A Nigerian lady, Iruoma Chikaodinaka, has recounted an incident involving her colleague who reportedly called off her engagement after seeing a controversial comment made by her fiancé on Facebook.

Iruoma shared the story on her Facebook page, explaining that the relationship ended after the man publicly commented on a social media post in a way that appeared to justify cheating in marriage.

According to her, the fiancé wrote that a man cheating should not be enough reason to end a marriage, as long as he takes good care of his family. He also suggested that women often “make something out of nothing.”

The comment immediately raised red flags for the woman involved.

Iruoma revealed that her colleague’s senior brother saw the comment, took a screenshot, and sent it to her, warning that such a mindset could spell serious trouble in marriage. After reflecting on the implications of the statement, the woman reportedly decided to return the engagement ring and walk away from the relationship.

Iruoma shared this account while reacting to a similar trending incident online, where a man allegedly cancelled his wedding after being offended by a comment made by his fiancée on the viral “Ada Igbo” story on social media.

Quoting her post, Iruoma wrote:

“My colleague too returned an engagement ring after she saw the comment of her fiancé saying a man cheating shouldn’t be the reason for a marriage to end as far as he takes care of his family very well, that women like making something out of nothing. My colleague’s senior brother saw the comment, screenshotted it and sent it to my colleague, telling her the relationship/marriage will never work.”

The incident has since sparked conversations online about values, red flags, and the role of social media opinions in modern relationships.
