Nigerian dentist slams his countrymen in the United Kingdom for their constant gripes about life in the United Kingdom

A Nigerian dentist takes the initiative to silence those who have migrated abroad, particularly those in the United Kingdom, about their frequent complaints about their hectic lifestyle.

A Nigerian dentist slams his countrymen in the United Kingdom for their constant gripes about life in the United Kingdom.

It is no secret that, as the ‘Japa’ wave grew, Nigerians in the UK made it a habit to complain to their countrymen back home about high taxes, workload, lonely lifestyle, and so on.

On Twitter, a Nigerian dentist, @tk_oso, scoffs at the ridiculousness of such feedback from the UK while emphasizing the importance of embracing the privilege they have.

In his words;

“The things you left in Nigeria, did you build them in a year? Why do you want your life to suddenly transform in one year of japa? If you see progress, be thankful and keep pushing cos you’ll soon break through. Some of the things UK people say makes me puke.

You get here and suddenly things that were considered luxury in Nigeria become your daily reality. You get things you couldn’t dream of buying in Nigeria, but you’re pissed you don’t have 20 thousand pounds in your account 12 months after traveling. What happened to patience?

You complain about working too much, but you forget to mention that you get paid for every extra minute you spend at work. You’ve suddenly forgotten how you spent 5 hours on the road going to work in Nigeria, or how you got called in to do overtime without extra pay.

In your 12 months here, police hasn’t stopped you once, you’ve never heard sound of generator or constant blaring of horns. You have constant power and superb internet, eat whatever you want without breaking the bank. Anytime you feel ungrateful, remember why you left Nigeria.

We know how bad things are back home, no one going through the wahala in Nigeria will take you serious when you complain. Don’t look for sympathy from people back home, your quality of life is considerably better, yes I said it. Form a community and lament amongst yourselves.

Stop looking for Pele and ehyah from someone that’s not had light in two weeks. Thank you.”

@Amarachukwubaby: If you want to talk to me talk to me directly! Use your @ button with your full chest 😭😭😭😭😭thanks for this 🙏

@Osasu___: No light for one week and counting, inverter don dey work over time. Reducing the number of bulbs used cos we don’t want the inverter to go off. Let’s just thank God for life

@dnaira_: What a lovely read

@Tundejohnson: Premium thread!!! Where should I send your bottle of champagne?! 🙌🏾

@erax1000: Some people are naturally ungrateful. Some others have not really “worked” for money, so coming to a country that will make you account for every £1 you make sounds stressful. No free money. Another thing is unholy expectations “hope deferred makes the heart sick”

@EtuboLion: Thank you! People travel and suddenly forget that things take time. Japa-ing is like starting all over again. Is it stressful at first? Yes… but you have to trust the process and ge patient… or maybe most of them were lied to that they would become sudden millionaires.

@omotola90: Many people perhaps left with the intention that “they’d be picking money on the street” when they leave Nigeria and would in no time begin to “pepper” those they left behind. I keep telling people that these things take time, persistent personal improvement and God’s favour.
