A Nigerian woman has sparked mixed reactions online after recounting an unusual but heartfelt experience from her early days of motherhood.
The lady, known on X (formerly Twitter) as @janetfunmion, opened up about the realities of balancing a demanding banking career with being a first-time mum.
In her post, she described how exhausting it was navigating long hours at the bank while caring for her five-month-old baby. According to her, returning home each day felt like an “Olympic sprint,” as she hurried back to breastfeed her son.
On the particular day she shared, she said she had already begun experiencing severe breast engorgement before leaving work. The discomfort, she explained, worsened during her commute home. To manage the situation, she had instructed the nanny not to feed the baby shortly before her arrival so he would be hungry enough to nurse immediately.
However, things did not go according to plan.
When she arrived home, she discovered her son had already been fed Cerelac and was too full to latch. The refusal reportedly intensified her discomfort, which soon escalated into feverish symptoms and chills.
Amid the distress, her husband reportedly offered to help relieve the pressure. Though she initially felt hesitant about the idea, she said he insisted on assisting.
Narrating the moment humorously, she shared that her husband was shy at first but eventually stepped in. She joked that he was surprised by the taste, even commenting on it mid-way through the process. By the time he began feeling slightly nauseous, she said the discomfort had subsided and she finally experienced relief.
Concluding her story on a lighthearted note, she described the relief as “unmatched” and ended her post with, “Praise the Lord.”
The story has since generated a wave of reactions online, with many parents relating to the struggles of early motherhood, while others debated the unconventional solution she shared.
