Nigeria elections: Lagos woman votes after being attacked by thugs at a Surulere unit

A woman is being hailed as a hero of Saturday’s elections after she voted despite being attacked by hoodlums in Lagos. 

The incident occurred at a polling unit in the state’s Surulere area. 

Thugs stormed the location and destroyed election materials while people were voting in the presidential and National Assembly elections. 

They assaulted those who attempted to confront them, including the brave woman who suffered a head injury.

A social media user who claimed the unrest occurred in his neighborhood shared a video of the woman receiving stitches at a hospital. 

The woman is being praised for returning to vote after the peace was restored. In two hours, a tweet commemorating her received 970,000 likes.
