All across the nation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has flagged the homes, cars, and other assets of drug lords under indictment for forfeiture.
Idris Mohammed Bello, the Commander of the NDLEA in charge of Zone B, stated to newsmen in Yola that the exercise is a national one and specifically mentioned the states of Adamawa, Gombe, and Taraba.
When asked what message he would give to drug lords who won’t give up their illegal business, Idris Bello replied, “The lords should desist from drugs and find something legal to do. Whatever you think you have will be taken if NDLEA gets a baron.
“This is because apart from arrest, there is asset investigation too. All the money in your bank is to be forfeited. Your houses and such properties will be seized. Now, NDLEA is auctioning in the Federation. Here in Adamawa State, there is a house in Bachure. There is a vehicle, a J5, at the state command.”
Idris Bello stated that these properties, which are supported by a final forfeiture order already obtained by the NDLEA, are set to go up for auction, emphasizing that this is what every baron who continues to participate in the racket will experience.
He also cautioned landowners against renting out their properties to drug dealers.
He spoke, “Anybody who leases his house or vehicle for use of drug dealers will not be tolerated. You will lose that property. Report anyone who uses your property that way. Don’t let us make an arrest first because if we do, you may have no chance of retaining your property.”
