Naira scarcity protesters have set fire to two bank buildings in Ogun State, Nigeria’s south-west.
The incident occurred in the state’s Sagamu region.
Residents watched as protesters set fire to the Keystone and Union bank buildings, who were also protesting the state’s petrol shortage. At the time of the incident, the buildings were thought to be empty.
Protesters also set fire to various sections of the area’s roads.
The incident on Monday came just days after a similar one in the state.
VisioTalks reported last Friday that protesters in Ogun State’s Mowe-Ibafo area blocked the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in protest of the hardship caused by the lingering scarcity of the naira.
Businesses in Sagamu were not allowed to open because those who had already opened before Monday’s incident had to close them quickly.
