The massive telecom company MTN has closed all of its service centers and retail locations in Nigeria.
Following the network provider’s Sunday line-barring action, which infuriated some of its customers nationwide, this occurred.
A barricade fence outside the MTN office is being destroyed by a mob in a video that went viral on social media on Monday.
The video showed a sizable gathering of irate customers damaging the telecom provider’s office in Lagos State’s FESTAC Town neighborhood after the network blocked users because their SIM registration and NID did not match.
However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a response to the circulated video on X.com stated that the DPO of FESTAC and his men had successfully restored normalcy and peace at the scene.
“This should not be the way to go!
Reacting on Tuesday, MTN said it would be shutting its shops nationwide today.
“Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024,” the statement sighted on X read.
