Moses Korede, a veteran actor from Mount Zion who was affectionately known as Baba Gbenro, passed away, leaving a gap in Nigeria’s gospel film industry.
His coworker, gospel actor and producer Oluwaseun Adejumobi, shared the heartbreaking news in a tribute he shared on Instagram an hour ago.
Adejumobi lamented the actor’s passing while honoring his legacy, writing, “Heaven’s Gain Again!” next to a picture of him. A General has gone to rest.”
In another post, he shared a clip from a movie, featuring Baba Gbero with the caption, “Rest on! Evangelist Moses Korede Are. You Lived a Worthy Life! We are challenged to Keep Living Right! We are Challenged to Keep Chasing Purpose! We are Challenged to Make Eternity Our Ultimate Pursuit!”
Baba Gbenro was widely beloved for his roles in the popular Mount Zion film series, Abattoir, where he left a lasting impact through his powerful portrayals of faith and resilience.
He was a prominent figure in Christian drama ministries in addition to being an actor. He founded the Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, which has its headquarters in Ogbomoso, Nigeria, and he was the CEO of Calvary Movies Television.
In addition to expressing their condolences, fans and colleagues have celebrated his life and contributions to Christian ministry and entertainment on social media. Many people consider him a “general” in the field of gospel drama, and his influence will be remembered with fondness.
