The mother of a Nigerian boxer who tragically passed away during an ongoing fight in Ghana has pleaded for help, sharing a message she received from her son before the fight.
In a video circulating on the popular social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the mother called on the attention of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, asking for assistance and justice.
She revealed that her son had received a threatening message before the fight, urging him to step down for his opponent. However, he refused to back down.
Despite winning the first two rounds, the boxer could no longer lift his arm in the third round, leading to his unfortunate death.
In her emotional plea, she urged the president to ensure that her son’s death is properly investigated and not covered up, alleging foul play and claiming that her son was killed.
Her statement read: “Our daddy Tinubu, help me. I have one son, and I don’t have anyone else. His father passed away on June 12, 1993, and I’ve been raising him alone ever since.”
“He received a message, threatening him to step down for his opponent, but he refused. We read the message during the day, but the match had already taken place overnight. He won the first two rounds, but couldn’t lift his arm in the third. Please don’t let them cover this up, help me.”
This comes days after it was reported that the Nigerian boxer tragically passed away in the middle of his match in Ghana.
