Through their Mercyisblessed Foundation, gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have given 100 University of Calabar undergraduate students full scholarships.
The couple made the announcement during a visit to the university on July 12, 2024, bringing joy to the students.
For deserving students who face financial hardship, the scholarship pays for all tuition and extra assistance to guarantee academic stability.
According to Mercy Chinwo, this act is her way of giving back to the community that raised her.

“Port Harcourt is home to me any day. The memories are fresh of a city where I dared to dream and hope for a purposeful life. I thank the Lord for His work in me and through me so far. The scholarship is to inspire students that their dreams and ambitions are valid and not to give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’.”
It was discovered that the scholarship is effective right away and that the proper channels will be used to announce the eligibility requirements and procedures for selecting qualified applicants.
In addition to the University of Calabar scholarships, Mercy Chinwo had previously awarded scholarships to 50 students at the University of Port Harcourt in April.
