Robert Rihmeek Williams, also known as Meek Mill, an American heavyweight rapper, has apologized for filming a video in Ghana’s Presidential Villa.
The Philadelphia-born rapper, who was a headline artist at the 2022 Afro Nation, which took place between December 29th and December 30th, 2022, at Marine Drive, Black Star Square, Accra, Ghana, had a fantastic time in the Gold Coast and even met the President.
However, the rapper received backlash last weekend after posting a video shot at the Jubilee House governmental facility, which functions as both Ghana’s official residence and the president’s office.
“My apologies to the people if any disrespect! We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa…what I’m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon! My apologies to the the office also!
“To the people of Ghana no video I drop is ever meant to disrespect the people of Ghana …. The fastest way to make a connection is thru music and I wanted to do that with displaying art … “I’m in my 30’s from America and didn’t know much about the lifestyle here.”
He admitted that Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo, was unaware that he was filming. He later withdrew the video from his social media accounts.
