A two-year-old marriage has reportedly ended in divorce following a dispute over the wife’s refusal to adopt her husband’s surname.
Facebook user Iyke Orji made the disclosure after sharing information about the breakup, claiming it was due to a small disagreement that could have been settled with loyalty and maturity.
Orji claims that his friend, the husband, had asked his wife to change her Facebook accounts, bank account information, and other official records to use his last name.
However, the wife allegedly refused, citing concerns over her personal identity, online following, and other professional engagements linked to her maiden name.
The couple had been talking about it for two years, but they were unable to come to an agreement. The dispute finally resulted in their divorce, which was finalized four days prior to Orji’s post.
Marriage divorce over surname issue
“So one of my friends just divorced the wife four days ago. A marriage of 2 years. What was the issue? It was something Very little that matured and loyal minds could tackle.
He asked the Lady to edit her father’s name in all her handles to Their surname since they’re now married.
He asked her to get a court affidavit to change even her Bank details, and other stuffs relating to her that bore her father’s name
The lady refused on the grounds that it will ruin her followers, identity and other things and things.
