According to reports, Manchester United is prepared to challenge Bayern Munich for the Dutch midfield player Xavi Simons.
Bild claims that United is getting ready to make a sizable €100 million offer to sign Simons away from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The 21-year-old reportedly stated that he wanted to leave PSG this summer, with Bayern Munich looking to be the front-runner at first.
RB Leipzig is also hopeful that Simons will return following his productive loan season the previous year.
Personal terms have reportedly been agreed upon between Simons’ management and Bayern.
However, Manchester United’s entry into the race complicates the situation, with the Premier League giants poised to table huge sum of money.
Despite the many interests, PSG are reluctant to sell Simons this summer.
Given that Simons’ decision-making process is known to be influenced by the possibility of playing in the Champions League, Bayern Munich maintains an advantage.
As it stands, no agreement has been reached with PSG, leaving the door open for Manchester United to make their move.
