A Nigerian man has taken to social media to express regret over an oath he made with his then-girlfriend at the age of 19, which may be affecting their love lives years later.
The man, who is now 35, disclosed in a post on the well-known website X, which was formerly Twitter, that he and his ex-girlfriend, who is now 36, once vowed that they would never find true love unless they remained together.
He bemoaned that they were still unmarried years after parting ways, questioning whether the oath was the cause of their extended unmarried status.
He wrote: “I took an oath when I was 19 with my then-girlfriend. The declaration was that no one would find true love if we didn’t stick to each other.”
“I’m 35 and she’s 36, and we’re both still single. Could that be the cause? If yes, how do we break it?”
