A man recently sparked online debate after explaining why he refused to give his ex-girlfriend N500,000 for her father’s medical treatment. The story, shared by @GloriousGod01 on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral.
While they were dating, the man once asked his girlfriend to help wash his clothes during a weekend visit. She declined, saying she had never washed any man’s clothes, not even her father’s, and told him he could continue doing his laundry the way he always had. He accepted her response without argument.
Sometime later, the girlfriend called in tears, saying her father had been rushed to the hospital and urgently needed N500,000 for treatment. The man refused, explaining that he had never given any woman money for her father’s treatment before, and suggested she seek help elsewhere. She reportedly blocked him immediately afterward.
Sharing the incident online, he wrote:
“While dating my ex, she came over one weekend and I politely asked her to help wash my clothes. She replied that she had never washed any man’s clothes, not even her father’s, and told me I had hands and should keep doing it the way I did before we met. Then one evening she called in tears because her dad had been rushed to the hospital and she needed 500k from me. I told her I couldn’t, as I had never given any woman 500k for her father’s treatment before, and suggested she get help elsewhere. She blocked me on the spot. What was my crime?”
The post has since ignited heated discussions online, with opinions divided over personal boundaries, moral obligations, and financial responsibilities in relationships.
