A man has triggered widespread reactions online after a screenshot emerged allegedly showing him rejecting a job offer and blocking a recruiter upon discovering that his prospective boss is a woman.
The viral exchange, said to be between the applicant and a representative of NovaEdge Consulting Ltd, shows the company informing the man that he had been selected for a role. The message read:
“Hi there, we’re pleased to inform you that you’ve been selected for a job offer with NovaEdge Consulting Ltd. Further details regarding your role and next steps will be communicated shortly. Best regards, Mrs. Evelyn Hart, Human Resources Manager, NovaEdge Consulting Ltd.”
The applicant reportedly replied with a brief question:
“Mrs?”
When the recruiter responded, “Yes, any problem with that?”, the man allegedly stated:
“I can’t work under a woman.”
He later added:
“I’d pass.”
The screenshot further shows that after making his position clear, the man blocked the recruiter, effectively ending the conversation.
Since surfacing online, the screenshot has gone viral, sparking intense debate across social media platforms. Many users expressed shock and disbelief, while others criticised the man’s stance as discriminatory and self-sabotaging. Some commentators also questioned the authenticity of the exchange, noting the growing trend of staged chats for engagement, though no official confirmation has been made regarding its origin.
