A man from Lagos who was previously making a comfortable N700,000 a month was devastated when his girlfriend dumped him after he lost his job without warning.
The incident, which has gone viral on social media, has sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians, with many weighing in on the situation.
According to a TikTok post shared by Soyoye Farouk, the man had a stable lifestyle, living in a well-furnished apartment and driving a nice car.
His income enabled him to live comfortably, and he was seeing a woman who was used to living a life of luxury.
However, his life took a drastic turn when he received a call from his employer informing him that his services were no longer needed.
The sudden loss of income left him struggling to keep up with his expenses. Within just three months, he found himself unable to afford rent and had to cut back on his once-lavish lifestyle.
“A friend of mine was earning N700k per month at a 9 to 5 job in Lagos. So he had a very decent apartment, drove a nice car, had a girlfriend who love soft life. He wasn’t really rich, but he was very very comfortable. Then one day, his boss called him and said to him, he told him ‘you have really been an asset to this company, but we are making some changes so we have to let you go. Just like that, his entire life flipped upside down. Within three months, he could barely afford rent, his girlfriend needed space. He went from hanging out at expensive spots to avoiding calls from friends. It hit him that his comfort had been an illusion,” the man narrated in part.
