Man Left Confused After Wife Says He Has No Right to Bathe Their Female Child

A Nigerian father has stirred conversation online after sharing a surprising incident that happened in his home involving his wife and their young daughter.

The man explained that the situation occurred one morning while he was simply trying to assist with childcare.

According to him, the moment left him confused and wondering whether there were cultural or traditional rules he might not be aware of.

The story, which he posted on social media, quickly attracted reactions from Nigerians who shared differing opinions about parenting and cultural beliefs.

In his post, the father said his wife was busy cooking in the kitchen when he decided to help by bathing their little daughter.

He described the act as a normal parental responsibility and said he carried the child to the bathroom without thinking anything unusual about it.

However, the situation suddenly changed when his wife rushed out of the kitchen in panic.

According to him, the way she ran made it appear as if an emergency had occurred.

He wrote:

This morning something happened in my house that really surprised me.

I wanted to bath my little daughter because my wife was busy in the kitchen cooking. Just normal father duties, nothing serious. I carried my daughter and went to the bathroom.

Suddenly my wife rushed out of the kitchen like there was an emergency. The way she ran, you would think someone shouted that a bomb was about to drop.

She looked at me with very serious eyes and said I should stop immediately. According to her, I have no right to bath our female child and she had warned me about it before.

She even said this would be the last warning and that I wouldn’t like what would happen if I tried it again.”

The father said he was left standing in the bathroom feeling confused and embarrassed after the confrontation.

According to him, he had never heard of any law or rule in Nigeria that prevents a father from bathing his own daughter.

He added that the situation made him wonder whether some families or cultures hold beliefs that discourage such actions.

Honestly, I just stood there confused, looking like a complete fool because I have never heard of any law in Nigeria that says a father cannot bath his own daughter.

Now I’m really wondering… Is there actually any rule or cultural belief that says a father shouldn’t bath his daughter? Or is this just something some families believe in?”

After sharing the story, the father asked other parents online to share their views on the matter.

Social media reactions

Many Nigerians reacted to the story with mixed opinions.

Chinedu Okafor wrote:

Some families have beliefs like that, especially when the girl starts growing. But a small child? I don’t see the problem.”

Blessing Adebayo commented:

“A father bathing his daughter is normal parenting. People are just overthinking things.”

Musa Abdullahi added:

“In some traditions they discourage it after a certain age, but for a little child it shouldn’t be an issue.”

Tolu Ogunleye reacted humorously:

Imagine trying to help and suddenly you look like a criminal in your own house.”

Amaka Nworie said:

Communication is important. Maybe the wife has a cultural or personal reason for feeling that way.”

The discussion continues to generate debate online, with many parents sharing different perspectives about cultural beliefs, parenting roles, and family boundaries.
