Man Laments After AC Installer Allegedly Damages Wall and Disappears

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to vent his frustration after an air conditioner technician allegedly damaged part of his wall during installation and failed to return to fix it.

The incident comes at a time when many households are rushing to install cooling systems due to the intense heatwave currently affecting parts of the country.

According to the man, the technician successfully installed the AC unit but left behind a visibly damaged section of the wall. When confronted, the technician reportedly insisted that plastering or repairing the wall was not part of his job description.

The customer, however, disagreed strongly, arguing that after paying a hefty ₦150,000 for the installation, the wall should have been restored to its original condition.

Broken Promise and Silence

The disagreement seemed temporarily resolved when the technician allegedly promised to return the following day with cement to fix the damage. Unfortunately, that promise was not kept.

Despite several calls, the technician has reportedly gone silent, leaving the man stranded and unsure of what to do next.

“He said he would come back today with cement to plaster it, but he didn’t come. I’ve been calling him and he hasn’t picked up,” the man said.

Considering Drastic Action

Frustrated by the situation, the man revealed he is considering involving security operatives since he claims to know where the technician lives.

However, situations like this can escalate quickly, and it’s usually better to explore calmer, more structured options first.

Reactions Online

The situation has sparked mixed reactions online, with many users sharing opinions, advice, and criticism:

@6E6D6D61 (Emma):

Please do not be annoyed. Snap the remaining part of the piping. I wan check if the outdoor unit is also inside the house.”

@Crezia001 (Yettie❤️):

My own is—what happened to him passing the pipe outside? What is it doing inside the wall biko?”

@melife… (Mai Angwar D Farmer):

Your installer na bricklayer???”

@Abeedex07 (Real-One):

Advised people to stop paying fully upfront:

You should normalize not paying for services completely until after the service is done… that way you can hold him accountable.”

@Shu… (Okuntimo Olasubomi 👷🏾‍♂️🏠):

This is unprofessional… but during construction, there’s usually no provision for AC conduit. Still, the technician doesn’t know what he is doing.”
