A man, identified simply as Muftau Adefalu, has allegedly killed his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
After Olayiwole’s death, the Ogun State Police told our correspondent that the suspect had since been taken into custody.
The incident happened at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, according to Omolola Odutola, the command spokesperson, who spoke on Saturday night.
The woman and the 37-year-old suspect were thought to have misunderstood each other, leading to a fight.
The victim instantly slumped during the altercation, according to PUNCH, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital where she was transported.
Odutola said, ”The man had a misunderstanding with his ex-wife, which resulted in a fight. She slumped during the scuffle and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.
“She was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. The corpse has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The suspect has been arrested and detained.”
Days prior, in Ibadan, Oyo State, a 39-year-old man named Olusegun Tinubu was allegedly fatally stabbed by his wife, Comfort Tinubu.
The state police command confirmed that it had started an investigation into the incident, and the suspect has since been taken into custody.
