On Monday, a quarrel between two relatives in Lagos turned deadly when one of them stabbed his cousin to death during a struggle.

In a succinct statement released by Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident and mentioned that the suspect was still at large.

According to the police, a woman reported that her nephew Afeez Akeem and son Ganiyu Ibrahim got into a physical altercation over a miscommunication.

At approximately seven in the morning, Ganiyu and his cousin Afeez reportedly got into a heated argument that turned violent.

“As a result, Ganiyu broke a bottle and stabbed Afeez on the left side of his chest. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. A team of detectives was immediately mobilised to the scene, and photographs were taken,” the police spokesman said.

According to Hundeyin, the family opted to bury Akeem in accordance with Islamic customs rather than have an autopsy performed.

“The suspect is at large. Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” the PPRO added.
