A young man describes the horrible and upsetting experience of being a “cake taster” in his girlfriend’s wedding preparations with another man.
A post on X that went viral and asked, “Guys, can you share one thing you did when you were stupidly in love?” prompted @MisterElikem to make the revelation.
Elikem described how his ex-girlfriend persuaded him to go on a “cake date” with her, claiming it would be an adventurous experience.
Elikem saw a change in her behavior a week later; she started to ignore his calls, reply to messages slowly, and make excuses to avoid meetings. He ran into the baker, who naively inquired about their satisfaction with their wedding cake, raising suspicions.
Elikem asked more questions, but the baker told him that his girlfriend had come back with her “brother” to complete the cake order and that the cake had already been picked up for a wedding.

“I’m supposed to take this to my grave but..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂during my relationship with this girl, one time she called me and said she feels like doing something adventurous so we should go on a cake date. I asked myself what’s adventurous about going. on a cake date but I was like okayy cool no yawa.
So by close of work, she came to pick me up from the office and we headed straight to the bakery. Before we got there she said “Elikem just play along” I was like what are you talking about and she said, “Elikem just play along”.
I kept my cool and followed her. When we got to the counter, she told the lady we are about to get married and we would like to order a wedding cake but first, we would like to try their flavors… my jaw just dropped😂😂 I was about to deny it and she gave me some eye eerrhh😂 luckily, the lady didn’t see so we sat down and we were served different cakes with different flavors.
After eating the cake, this girl rained praising on the baker saying this is the best cake she’s ever tasted and told her, we’d be back with our own cake design…this baker was excited because my woman told her our budget for the cake is $600 and that was how we went for a cake date without paying for the cake… the cake was good thoughhh…
A week after the date, this girl began acting funny, she barely picks my calls, replies my messages late, anytime I ask to see her, she makes flimsy excuses. I was really hurt and anytime I complained, more excuses.
One time, I was walking in town and I saw the cake lady, I tried to hide but she saw me and approached me… she asked if we enjoyed the wedding cake and she hopes what we ordered for is what we got… I was confused because I didn’t know what was happening and she added that, my wife came with her brother a week ago to show them the design they wanted and on Saturday, someone came to pick it up.
I was like it was really nice and everyone liked it. After, I walked off…while I was walking home, I intentionally called my woman’s best friend and asked her why she never told me my woman was getting married. she asked me who told me, I asked her why she never told me.
This friend told me she is sorry and that my woman asked her not to tell anyone… my woman never posted any wedding pictures anywhere… her friends too didn’t post anything. It’s as if they were all on it… I was heartbroken… I didn’t know whether to call my woman or not. My mother can prepare fufu with palm nut and meat…
I’ll just dip my hand in the soup and link it. I couldn’t eat. I used to stare at my phone saaa hoping this girl will call but she never did… one time, I picked up my phone and texted her “Why?”. It ticked blue and after, I realized she has blocked me everywhere.
It took therapy to get me to where I am currently😔😔 you have no idea what I went through… I can stand under the shower for 1hour straight while the water poured on me while I was listening to “Love Rhythm by Liam’O”😩😩😩.”
