A Nigerian man has taken to social media to recount how a childhood friend he accommodated allegedly betrayed his trust and vanished after selling off his valuables.
The man, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @AbuchiHenr33850, raised alarm over the shocking incident.
According to his post, he had allowed the friend to stay with him last year after the friend needed a place to live. What started as a kind gesture, however, reportedly turned into a painful experience months later.
He alleged that the friend secretly sold several items from his home, including a television, PS5, gaming chair, and refrigerator—valued at over ₦2 million.
In addition to the missing items, the man claimed the friend is also owing him about ₦2 million in cash before disappearing without any trace.
In his words:
“This guy below was my childhood friend that needed a place to stay last year and I decided to let him stay with me.
Fast forward to today, this guy sold off everything in my house including my TV, PS5, gaming chair, fridge worth 2m+ and just disappeared and he’s owing me 2m too.”
The post has since sparked reactions online, with many expressing shock over the alleged betrayal and advising caution when helping even long-time friends.
