A Nigerian man has taken to social media to express his disapproval of the arrest of well-known influencer VeryDarkMan by transferring all of his funds out of GTBank, calling the bank’s move a grave error.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the man called for VeryDarkMan’s immediate release and urged GTBank to withdraw from Nigeria if the influencer was not released.
Despite having no outstanding loans, VeryDarkMan was reportedly arrested at a GTBank branch in Abuja after going to see his mother to refuse unauthorized withdrawals from her account.
The Nigeria Police Force and GTBank have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident as of the time this report was filed.
But according to a video posted online, VeryDarkMan’s brother said their mother broke down in tears when the police took him into the bank.
Reacting to the arrest, the protesting customer wrote:
“Just moved all my money out of GTBank. Arresting VDM was one of their greatest mistakes. #FreeVDM or get out of Nigeria.”
The post has since gone viral, attracting reactions from many Nigerians online.

@magicfingers07: “Nigerians and clout you think moving funds between banks is that easy. You think banking with Nigeria banks you’re doing them a favor. They’re the ones doing you favors by helping you keep your money. Their money don’t come from your savings account. Operate a business account”
