Man Claims Cousin’s ₦60m Wedding Crashed Within a Year, Alleges Domestic Violence Setup in U.

A Nigerian man’s shocking account of his cousin’s failed marriage has ignited intense conversations online after he revealed that the union reportedly crashed less than a year after a lavish wedding said to have cost over ₦60 million.

The story, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), has since stirred debates around marriage expectations, domestic violence allegations, and the complexities of cross-border relationships.

In his viral post, the man lamented the sudden collapse of the marriage.

Marriage when my cousin spend more than 60 million last year April don scatter.”

He further alleged that the situation escalated dramatically in the United States, claiming the bride falsely accused his cousin of abuse.

Apparently, the girl even scratched herself with stuff and reported to the police that he abused her.”

According to him, the consequences were severe. He stated that his cousin, who worked as a nurse anaesthetist earning over $300,000 annually, lost his job following the domestic violence allegation.

“My cousin who is a nurse anesthetist, making over $300k has been fired for domestic violence and is now driving Uber in Florida,” he added.

While the claims remain unverified and represent only one side of the story, the post has attracted widespread reactions, with many urging caution before drawing conclusions.

Public Reactions

Social media users quickly flooded the comment section with mixed opinions.

Ada questioned the completeness of the narrative, suggesting there might be more beneath the surface.

“Ok he spent 60m for his wedding and knowing how the average Nigerian male believes that they own their wives because of the money spent during marriage, then there is more to this story.

Moreover, a medical practitioner can’t just lose their licence like that without proper investigation. The story no clear.”

Sosa offered a broader reflection on relationships, emphasizing unpredictability.

This marriage thing is just pure luck, today you may think you know them. Tomorrow they turn into a total opposite of what you know.

Experience will teach you to always protect yourself first.”

Another user, Oba_lowkey, reacted with concern about the behavior of some men.

“Fear my gender oooo… I repeat, FEAR my gender ooooooo… There are many dangerous/wicked ones among us.”

Cynthia also expressed shock over the alleged professional fallout.

Omo!!! Wait, fired as per his License withdrawn?? God abeg! Why go that extent to punish him, what exactly happened?”

Bolaji described the situation as heartbreaking, suggesting the man may have sponsored his wife’s relocation.

“I won’t be surprised if the guy was the one that brought her to the US. You destroy a breadwinner of a family because you want divorce him.”

Emma, however, used the situation as a cautionary tale about long-distance relationships.

Once you cross over without a stable relationship here in Naija, find girls there and marry because dating across borders will make it impossible to detect red flags.”
