Man Calls Out Brother Over iPhone Demand After Past Neglect

A Nigerian man has stirred conversation online after sharing a tense family dispute involving his brother, raising questions about entitlement and expectations of financial support among relatives.

According to his account, the situation dates back a few weeks when he stayed with his brother in Abeokuta and allegedly experienced severe hardship. He claimed he struggled to afford proper meals and survived on pawpaw until he eventually reached out to their mother for help.

The issue resurfaced recently when the same brother reportedly fell on hard times and reached out to him for assistance. In response, the man said he offered his brother a basic Android phone to help him stay connected.

However, the gesture did not go as planned.

According to him, his brother rejected the Android device and instead demanded one of his iPhones, claiming he had seen him using two. The request reportedly sparked a disagreement, with the man refusing to give up his iPhone, insisting he purchased it for personal use.

He came to my DM explaining everything, so I offered my Android. This guy said he saw me with two iPhones and wants one instead. Now my mum is calling me, but I told her I bought the phone for a reason and I’m not ready to dash it out,” he said.

The story has since generated mixed reactions online, with some sympathizing with the man’s stance, while others argued that family support should go beyond convenience when one is in a better position.

The situation highlights a recurring issue within many families, where financial struggles can strain relationships and blur the line between genuine need and perceived entitlement.
