A Nigerian man has gone online to seek help in paying his mother’s hospital bill after losing money to sports betting.
The appeal was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @thomsincruz23, who revealed that he needed ₦35,000 to settle his mother’s hospital bill but had just lost ₦45,000 to gambling.
In his post, he pleaded for urgent support to save his mother’s life, expressing fear that she could die if the bill was not paid.
He wrote: “I don’t know what to do now. I just lost 45k to gambling today. Now I can’t even pay 35k for my mom’s hospital bills. I can’t even go to the hospital right now and my mom is dying. Somebody please help me, I don’t want to lose my mom.”
The post quickly attracted attention online, with concerned individuals flooding the comments section to share their thoughts, ranging from sympathy to criticism of his gambling habit.
