SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police PRO, has criticized up-and-coming musician Ayo Maff for the lyrics to his most recent song, “Last Week.”
The Lagos State police command described the lyrics of the song as “indecent”.
At the opening line of the song, the singer boasted about taking strong, imported cannabis strain Canadian Loud on the first day of the week and telling his dealer he ran out of the drug on Saturday.
In response to a song clip that was extensively shared on X, SP Hundeyin expressed concerns regarding the lyrics.
He claimed that half of the young people in detention today would not be there if drug abusers had not developed the habit.
He asserted that drug use without a prescription can result in crime.
The PPRO wrote, “He does what on Mondays and Saturdays? Help me listen.
“Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…
“Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad.
“Eni a wi fun…”
