A Nigerian woman has shared a tragic tale of how she painstakingly saved her whole NYSC allowance and a portion of her salary to pay for her application for a master’s degree in the United States, only to have her visa rejected.
She disclosed in a social media post that she never used her NYSC monthly stipend during her service year.
Instead, she rounded up her savings to ₦20,000 by adding ₦200 from her monthly salary.
She claims that she utilized the money she had saved to pay for application fees, transcript submissions, and other associated costs for her master’s program in the United States.
“Every single dime was wasted,” she lamented. “I cried ehn.”
Her story has since sparked emotional reactions from users who flooded the comment section with words of empathy and shared experiences.
