Lady slams police, DSS for ignoring kidnappers’ account details after paying ₦580k ransom

A Nigerian woman who recently paid a ransom of ₦580,000 to be freed from kidnapping has talked about her experience, exposing how police and other authorities disregarded important evidence that might have resulted in her captors’ arrest.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted how she was abducted and forced to pay the ransom from her hard-earned money.

She explained that after her release, she obtained the account details used for the payment and took the information to the police, DSS, and Amotekun, hoping for justice. However, she was met with indifference.

According to her, a DSS officer dismissed her concerns, instead making inappropriate comments about her appearance.

She wrote:

I was kidnapped. I went to the NPF, Amotekun, and DSS. The DSS officer called me ‘fine girl’—nothing was done, even when I had the phone number and account details where my ₦580,000 ransom was paid.”

She expressed frustration over the authorities’ inaction and the trauma she endured at the hands of her abductors, stating:

If you’ve never experienced the horrors these people unleash, you won’t understand the pain they inflict. Don’t come here and manipulate us if you’ve never spoken out about the herdsmen and their killings.”

Recounting her harrowing experience in captivity, she added:

“Sis, what I went through in that forest for more than six hours—I wouldn’t even wish it on my worst enemy.”

Bro, if I tell you what I saw inside that thick forest… For weeks, I couldn’t sleep at night. I stopped taking bikes out of fear. These people are not human; they are animals who don’t deserve to breathe the same air as us.”

Her post quickly gained traction online, with many concerned individuals flooding the comment section to express their thoughts and frustration over the security situation in the country.

@AmakaOkorji: “Gaslighters forming patriotism, people that go on killing spree in villages for no reason is the one I should be forming leniency with, tufiakwa. Hand over to police may heaven forbid it.”
