A Nigerian lady identified as @priye_tanya has warmed hearts online after sharing a touching experience that showed honesty and empathy.
According to her, she had purchased an item worth ₦56,000 at a store and paid with her card. However, when she got home, something prompted her to double-check her account balance.
To her surprise, she discovered that the sales representative had mistakenly charged ₦5,600 instead of ₦56,000, leaving a difference of ₦50,400 unpaid.
Determined to correct the mistake, she decided to return to the store even though it meant spending ₦3,000 on transport. She had initially planned to collect the transport fare when she went back to settle the balance.
But when she arrived, the situation took an emotional turn.
The sales representative was being scolded by her boss, who insisted the missing money would be deducted from her salary. The young worker stood quietly, visibly frightened and regretful.
The moment the employee saw Tanya walk in, she reportedly exclaimed in relief:
“Thank you, Jesus!”
Touched by the situation, Tanya said she immediately changed her mind about collecting the transport fare.
Although the sales rep still insisted on giving her something in appreciation, Tanya declined the money and accepted a soft drink instead.
Sharing the experience, she wrote:
“This morning, I went out to buy something worth 56k and paid with my card.
When I got home, something in my spirit told me to check my account just to be sure they didn’t charge me wrongly.
When I checked, I realized the sales rep removed 5,600 instead of 56,000.
That meant I had to spend another 3k on transport to go back. I had already made up my mind that I would collect my transport fare.
When I got there, her boss was shouting that the money would be deducted from her salary. The sales rep just stood there. She wasn’t crying, but I could see fear and regret on her face.
Immediately she saw me, she shouted, ‘Thank you, Jesus!’
I couldn’t bring myself to collect the transport fare again, even though she offered. She insisted on giving me a soft drink instead.”
The story has since sparked praise and admiration online, with many commending the lady for her honesty and compassion. Many also noted that her decision likely saved the sales representative from losing a large portion of her salary.
