Lady Paid ₦50K To Spy On Neighbour’s Wife Shocked As Husband Demands Refund After Surprise Discovery

A lady has stirred mixed reactions online after revealing how a private arrangement with her neighbour took an unexpected turn.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady explained that she was given ₦50,000 to secretly monitor her neighbour’s wife while the man was away for work.

According to her, the neighbour works in another state and only returns home about twice a month. Recently, he confided in her that he suspected something unusual about his wife’s activities.

“He works in another state and only comes home twice a month,” she wrote. “Recently, he said he suspected something and asked if I had noticed any man visiting her.”

The lady said she told him about a man she had occasionally seen around the compound. Concerned, the neighbour asked her to take a photo if she ever saw the man again.

“He told me to take a picture the next time I see him, and later he sent me ₦50,000, saying it was a gift,” she explained.

Last week, the opportunity came when she spotted the same man leaving her neighbour’s apartment. Without wasting time, she quickly snapped a picture and sent it to the husband.

Last week, I saw the guy coming out of my neighbour’s flat. I quickly took a picture of him and sent it to my neighbour,” she said.

However, the situation took an unexpected twist hours later when the neighbour called her back.

According to the lady, the man told her he actually recognised the person in the photo.

“A few hours later, my neighbour called and said he knows the guy. Apparently, he’s his wife’s best friend,” she revealed.

Following the discovery, the man allegedly asked her to return the ₦50,000 he had earlier described as a “gift,” sparking debate online about whether she should refund the money or keep it.

Social Media Reactions

Many users shared mixed opinions about the situation:

Some argued that a gift should not be refunded, regardless of the outcome.

Others said the money was clearly meant as payment for information, so returning it would be the right thing to do.

A few people also criticised the husband for involving a neighbour in spying on his wife instead of addressing the issue directly.

The story has since sparked discussions online about trust, boundaries, and whether it was appropriate for the neighbour to ask someone else to monitor his spouse.
