An X user has shared a heartbreaking experience after discovering that a male friend who told her he was broke actually had millions saved.
The woman, identified as @jusynerxy, explained that she recently paid her house rent towards the end of last month but was still short of ₦150,000.
According to her, she reached out to a close male friend for help, hoping he could assist her with the balance. However, he told her he was also struggling financially and could not support her at the time.
The situation took an unexpected turn when she later visited him.
She revealed that during the visit, he left his phones with her, and since she already knew his PIN, she decided to check his financial apps out of curiosity.
According to her, what she discovered left her deeply hurt.
“I decided to check his PiggyVest and OPay apps since I know his PIN, and I saw that he had ₦200,000 in his OPay and about ₦2.3 million in PiggyVest,” she wrote.
The discovery made her feel betrayed, as she believed her friend had deliberately lied about his financial situation.
Feeling confused and heartbroken, she turned to social media users for advice on what to do next.
Her story quickly sparked debate online, with many people sharing mixed opinions about the situation.
Reactions trailing the story
Big Drey remarked:
“So you came online to crash out about someone’s money? Women just love feeling entitled to men’s money. So sad.”
Muscoyo stated:
“The painful part isn’t that he didn’t give you the money, it’s that he chose to lie instead of being honest. True friendship should be built on trust, not excuses. If he didn’t want to help, he could have simply said so. 💔”
Tianah emphasized:
“Confront him my love, he’s very wicked. What if the money was for something that had to do with life and death? That’s how he would have told you he didn’t have the money right? Very anyhow person.”
Atom added:
“It’s possible he might not have had the money when you asked and this money you’re seeing now just entered his account a few days back.”
The post has continued to generate conversation online, with many users debating whether the man was wrong to lie or whether he was simply protecting his finances.
