A lady has shared an emotional story about love, faith, and heartbreak after a 21-day church fast ended in an unexpected and painful way for her.
The story, which has been circulating widely on social media, explains how she believed a man she admired deeply would eventually become her husband.
According to her, everything seemed to point in that direction until the final day of the fast brought a shocking twist she never imagined.
She explained that her pastor had announced a 21-day fast focused on seeking clarity in relationships. At the time, she already had someone in mind.
The man, she said, was kind, intentional, and spiritually grounded. They often prayed together, served in church activities together, and frequently talked about purpose, faith, and the future.
Because of their connection, she decided to add a personal prayer request during the fast.
“Lord, if he is my husband, confirm it clearly,” she prayed.
She kept the prayer mostly private, only sharing it with one person — her prayer partner, whom she referred to as Grace.
Throughout the fasting period, the two women prayed together every evening. They held hands, prayed about their futures, and encouraged each other through the 21-day spiritual journey.
At one point during the fast, she admitted to Grace that she believed the man might be the one meant for her.
“I think he might be the one,” she told her.
Grace reportedly responded calmly, saying, “Then let’s pray God’s will.”
For the entire period, the woman said she remained disciplined and focused, avoiding sugar and other distractions while praying earnestly for clarity.
However, on the final day of the fast, which ended on a Sunday, the man asked to speak with her privately after church service.
Her heart began racing, believing that her prayers had finally been answered.
But the conversation quickly took an unexpected turn.
The man reportedly told her that he valued and respected her deeply, but during the fast he had also been praying and felt God was leading him in another direction.
Confused, she asked who the person was.
After a moment, he revealed the name.
It was Grace — her prayer partner.
The woman said she struggled to process the moment and later sat alone in her car, feeling embarrassed and heartbroken.
Two weeks later, she saw engagement photos of the couple circulating online.
What hurt even more, she said, was the caption attached to the photos:
“When you fast and God answers.”
The post has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users sharing different opinions about the situation.
Some sympathised with the woman, saying the situation must have been painful and difficult to process.
Others argued that relationships sometimes unfold in unexpected ways and that no one can control who someone eventually chooses.
A few commenters also said the story highlights how complicated friendships, faith, and relationships can become when emotions are involved.
