A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to call out internet fraudsters, also known as Yahoo Boys, after one almost scammed her out of $1,500 using her profile and bank information.
In a TikTok video, she described how a man approached her, claiming his client wanted to send him money but needed her help to receive it.
After being persuaded, she reluctantly shared her bank information.
The alleged client later messaged her and sent a $500 cheque.
But then he asked her to send $50 to someone at the supermarket .
She said she became suspicious after receiving that request and decided to look into it more.
As soon as she realised it was all a scam, she promptly called her bank to secure her account and report the incident.
“I saw the money in my account and I was shocked,” she recounted. “Then he said he just remembered that I should help him send like $50 to someone in a supermarket.”
Her quick thinking likely saved her from falling victim to a major scam.
