Lady accuses police of kidnapping brother over car documents despite affidavit

A Nigerian lady has accused the police of abducting her younger brother after he was arrested in Port Harcourt over car document issues, despite presenting a sworn affidavit to clarify the situation.

She revealed in a post on her X (formerly Twitter) page that her brother was stopped by police late at night while returning from a lounge and asked for the engine registration number of his car.

Even after presenting them with the court-issued affidavit, they allegedly took him into custody and relocated him.

He was first brought to the Emuoha Police Station, where his phones were confiscated and communication was cut off, she disclosed.

After worrying for hours, he finally got his phone back around two in the morning and sent her his real-time location.

Following him to the station, she was informed by the officers that he had been transferred to Bayelsa that morning, adding that they had only stayed overnight before continuing their journey.

In her words:

Please Nigerians come to my aid ooo, my kid brother was coming back from his lounge last night after his hard day’s job and members of the @PoliceNG picked him up.”

He had issues with his car document engine registration number, which he has sworn an affidavit for.”

“He tried to explain to them that he has an affidavit, and they refused to listen. They picked him up at 11 p.m., took him from Port Harcourt city to Emuoha Police Station, seized his phones, and kept him out of communication.”

“I don’t know how he got his phone by 2 a.m., but he quickly sent a message to me with his live location.”

I tracked it to Emuoha Police Station this morning, and I was told he has been moved to Bayelsa. The officers only passed the night there and proceeded to Bayelsa this morning.”

I haven’t been able to reach him. You people should help me ooo, my kid brother has been abducted oooo. These police officers at Emuoha Police Station are not making it easy for me. Help me oooo.”

The post has since gone viral, attracting reactions from concerned Nigerians who flooded the comment section to express their worries.
