Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim, the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has deployed 2,500 personnel for Saturday’s 2023 general elections in the state’s 16 local government areas.
According to a statement issued by the defence corps’s spokesman, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, in Ilorin on Thursday, the deployment was made to ensure a smooth election and to protect Nigerians’ lives and property before, during, and after the exercise.
The Commandant praised the people of Kwara state for their calm demeanor.
He stated that the corps will never take its peaceful nature for granted, and that the civil defense command “shall do everything possible to sustain and maintain the state’s peace.”
Tukur urged personnel to maintain the corps’ dignity and integrity while performing their duties during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
