The MoU was signed on Monday by the Kano and Moroccan teams. The Kano State Government and the Agricultural Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS Project) have signed a memorandum of understanding with Morocco’s School of Agriculture (Ecole National D’ Agriculture) to facilitate technical assistance to technology demonstration on improved agricultural practices.
In the presence of the National APPEALS Project Coordinator Jobdi Muhammad, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Yusuf Jibril Rurum, signed on behalf of the Kano State Government, while Professor Sa’id Amiri signed on behalf of the Moroccan School of Agriculture.
The agreement also covers capacity building and training for project beneficiaries, staff, and other project stakeholders, as well as research and exchange programs between the partners.
Others in attendance included Dr Junaid Yakubu, Managing Director of Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), Hafiz Muhammad, Special Adviser to Kano Governor on Agriculture, Dr Hassan Ibrahim, Directors from the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Representatives of the APPEALS National Coordinating Office, Consultants, and other stakeholders.
Kano has expressed willingness to support agricultural growth in the aftermath of the floods that washed away many farmlands in rural areas.
