Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo bemoans the lack of skill among female newcomers and speaks candidly about the increase in “unnatural relationships” between male actors.
The veteran actor exposed some hidden elements of Nollywood and exposed devious practices that have impeded the industry’s expansion on Nedu Wazobia’s well-liked podcast, “The Honest Bunch.”
During the podcast, Kanayo O Kanayo discussed his long-term acting goals and his desire for a successful career even after clocking 90.
The veteran actor, without holding back, addressed the pervasive issue of homosexuality in the film industry amongst male actors and producers.
“Are you aware most actors are on drugs? For men, those who have unnatural… In law, “unnatural” refers to when a man sleeps with another man, the speaker partially stated.
Kanayo openly expressed concern about the influx of inexperienced young women into Nollywood who have gained access through unscrupulous means.
He denounced the widespread practice of those without acting ability obtaining roles by questionable means, like “sex-for-role.”
He made it clear that acting is an intrinsic skill that cannot be acquired by manipulation or short cuts. Instead, it must be developed.
“Many girls are desperate to act; you don’t come to Nollywood to learn how to cat. “If you do not have acting in you, go learn how to sell crayfish,” he said.
