“Kabush Kabash”: Prophet Odumeje Declares 2026 a Year of Spiritual Battles

Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, the Onitsha-based cleric popularly known as Prophet Odumeje, has declared 2026 a year of “kabush kabash” for his followers.

The controversial preacher made the proclamation during a crossover service at his church, describing the new year as one that would be marked by intense spiritual confrontations and unseen battles.

“2026 is a year of kabush kabash,” Odumeje announced during the service, sparking loud reactions and excitement from worshippers in attendance.

“Kabush kabash,” a slang expression popularised by the cleric, has no direct one-word English meaning. The phrase is often used by Odumeje at moments of heightened spiritual emphasis, especially while speaking in tongues, also known as glossolalia.

As he delivered the message, the prophet displayed his trademark dramatic gestures, forming an ‘X’ sign with his arms and raising two fingers — a familiar feature of his preaching style.

Odumeje told the congregation that although 2026 would come with many battles, he was spiritually prepared to confront them. He claimed to have already secured divine backing to fight on behalf of his followers.

“I know that many will come. I am ready for the battle. Lift up your hands of destiny. The battle is not yours. I am ready to fight your war. I and my heavenly father. From today, prepare the burials of your enemies one by one. I am a warlord. I have never lost a fight. I can never lose a battle,” he declared.

Prophet Odumeje remains one of Nigeria’s most polarising religious figures, widely known for his unconventional sermons, dramatic delivery, and bold claims of extraordinary spiritual powers.

In 2024, he dismissed critics who questioned his abilities, famously describing himself as “a liquid metal,” further cementing his reputation as a cleric who thrives on controversy and spectacle.
