Just Adetoun calls out woman for taking daughter to sweeping job at 4 a.m.

Controversial content creator Just Adetoun has ignited mixed reactions online after publicly criticizing a struggling woman for taking her 11-year-old daughter to her street-sweeping job as early as 4 a.m.

In a viral video, Just Adetoun confronted the woman while she was working on the streets with her child. She accused her of exposing the girl to child labour and warned her never to involve the child in the job again.

Despite financial difficulties, Adetoun urged people to not normalise child labour by sharing the video on her Instagram page and urging society to acknowledge and denounce it.

“Pls let’s protect all our children from child labour 🙏🙏🙏. I will listen to her situation and we will see a way to help her, but for now, let the society understand what child labour is and let’s not encourage it, please 🙏.

“Obviously, for someone to wake up, leave Iyana Oworo, and be sweeping before 5 a.m., there is PROBLEM😭😭😭😭. Times are hard, but our children must not be exploited 💔💔💔💔🙏,” she wrote.

Her stance has sparked divided opinions online. While some praised her for speaking against child labour, others argued that the woman might have had no choice due to financial struggles.

@flourish007: “This is commendable. Child labour and exploitation are illegal, yet in Nigeria, many people overlook the issue because the government fails to uphold children’s rights. Regardless of the country’s harsh economic conditions, there is no justification for the mother’s actions.

“I hope that, one day, those criticizing the woman for recording the incident will understand her intentions. Hopefully, our government will take responsibility for protecting children’s rights and ensuring the country works for everyone, not just a privileged few.”

@StackedSam : “You put a camera in someone’s face and started talking to her like you’re talking to a child because you feel like there’s nothing she can do and then you post the video on social media??
How is this even child labour? Is the child employed??”

@nwabishop: This is totally wrong, correcting her mum in her present and recording it .

@MrTony_X: If I employ the mother and she brings the kid to work with her, I won’t allow it. But the recording is not necessary

@forexpatron: Tell her what you want to tell her without recording her. Do you thinking she is happy subjecting her daughter to that kind of life ? The way Nigerians behave sometimes
Why exactly are you recording a full grown woman and scolding her in front of her daughter
Yes she might be wrong if she had other options she won’t do this and the daughter is just doing so to help help her mum
A matured man would have called the woman privately to advice her without the daughter even knowing anything… you can as well even support her with something, People are suffering in this country

@OloriOfOloris: As much as I don’t agree with child labour, the way you people ridicule and talk to poor people is very sad.

@Gani_jonathan: If I told you what I and my siblings did to assist my mom at her work and business maybe you’ll arrest my mom. 😅 Even during holidays you see children at their parents shops assisting with one or two.
